A Sonnet for Nemesis
by Pia
In the lily garden, a
ripe smell blooms
around blood's fevered
swell, and bone's
sharp breaks.
Weeping willow lies on
curves, and entombs
shudder breaths, the
body soft as it
quakes.
By clenched hand a
cheerful feather shouts
white
and is crushed in
fingers of rising flesh,
rippled muscles and
broken ribs delight
in taunting Leda's
memory afresh.
She soars beyond
Olympus'
mighty gates
And settles ablaze in
Luna's stars.
There her healing body
will calm await
the livid glitter, the
dull red of Mars
For in this begins her
sweet genesis
A transformation; love's
first Nemesis.
Nemesis
by Phillupus
Speed to us on black wings--
O avenger, giver of justice!--
and make my enemies
repent of evil things!
Stike merciless, not cruel--
O avenger, giver of justice!--
when I implore with pleas
against tyranny's rule!
Sweep your shadow silent--
O avenger, giver of justice!--
o'er those, in all degrees
that are unkind, violent!
With tangled, wind-blown hair--
O avenger, giver of justice!--
fly down, by gods' decrees,
defend rights and truths fair!
Even down to Hades--
O avenger, giver of justice!--
don't give wrongdoers ease,
most furious of ladies!
Like light to those entombed--
O avenger, giver of justice!--
as virtue rights and frees,
your promise for the doomed!
So come now, quickly come--
O avenger, giver of justice!--
as cold upon the breeze
to increase virtue's sum!
