Aelian
Egyptian histories relate that in the time of Ptolemy Philadelphos there were brought from Aithiopia to Alexandria two live Drakones and that one of them was fourteen cubits long, the other thirteen; and in the time of Ptolemy Euergetes three were brought, one was nine cubits long, the second seven, and the third snake one cubit less. And the Aigyptians assert that they were tended with great care in the temple of Asklepios. — 16.39
