The Smith

Diotima Sophia

The anvil rings
The hammer rises
The metal twists and writhes under his hand

Again the blow
The skill
The shape

The smithy of the Gods throws light
And sound
And heat
To a waiting world

The muscled back
The gnarled, precise and able hands

The Smith brings forth
Beauty and utility

From metal
And skill

And fire
