For Anubis

Alaanja

Anubis she dreams of a black coated hound in the night, Anubis, limping but brave
dreams of black cotton, satin, stiches of thread, warm soft gentle in her arching low dress, lacing underlined
dreams of someone. Pepper skinned and coal eyed, waiting for times when
dreams stretch long and thin, etching memory and day,
times when she is fused, like electrical wires
with a transformation.

the dog man. the hound man
dreams of a scent, so long and hollow it winds through his head
coaxes him outwards to seek her
he comes to her in the night, black-browed and heavy
breathing, eyes on hers, searching
and in them he sees the dog man. the hound.
and in them he sees his beloved.
